M: So, the children are arriving on Thursday, right?
N: Yes, and the grandkids too.
M: Where are we going to put them all?
N: Well, some of them will have to double up3. We’ll make it work.
M: Did you phone the restaurant and make reservations?
N: Yes, and they asked me the strangest thing!
M: What’s that?
N: They wanted to confirm that I wanted a violinist4.
M: Oh no! That was supposed to be a surprise.
N: That’s ok. Anyway, I said, “yes”.
M: I thought it would be a nice touch5 to hear our song. After all, it was almost forty years ago that we first heard it together.
N: I remember it like it was yesterday.
M: So, was there any other special thing that you wanted to do to celebrate?
N: Honestly, I’m just glad it’s not me cooking! Imagine trying to plan a meal for eighteen people!
M: I meant something more suited to6 the occasion.
N: What did you have in mind? I think we’re a little too old for skydiving7, don’t you?
M: You certainly haven’t lost your sense of humor! Is there really nothing else you’d like?
N: One lovely idea I’ve heard about is to renew8 your wedding vows9 on your anniversary. What do you think of that?
M: I like that idea. Do we need a priest for that sort of thing?
N: No, we can just keep it intimate10 and do it when all of the family is here.
M: That sounds like a good idea. Tell me something: do you have any regrets11?
N: No. We’ve had both good and bad times, but I wouldn’t change anything – even if I could. Would you?
M: No, not really.
N: Your not telling me the whole story12.
M: Well, if I could do it all again, I would have asked you to marry me even sooner.
